It was a water day today) First water in a thousand cups of tea, then water from my eyes and then — on a beautiful postcard from Danny in USA.
Just look.
This photo by Chong II Woo shows sea gulls at Haystack Rock on the Oregon Coast. I can hear gulls and waves. And you?

This postcard came from Tiffany today. And its second part reminds me of our summer this year. It's only +9 C now. Is it fair? =)
Thank you, Tiffany!

Lorie from USA has sent me this postcard, and I like it very much! She also told me about Memorial Day.
On the postcard you see Iron Breast, Piegan, by Edward S. Curtis. The card also has the quote of Luther Standing Bear, Lakota Sioux Chief: "The American Indian is of the soil, whether it be the region of forests, plains, or mesas. He fits into the landscape".
Thank you, Lorie!

The good thing in receiving postcards in the post office is that you can receive them even on Sundays. I got two cards today. The first one is from Christina, who survived Hurricane Sandy and the attack on 9/11.
Christina reminded me to be the change I want to see in the world :)
The second postcard came from Julia, not far from here. I love this bright postcard with very warm and kind words.
Thank you, girls!

Thank you, Joni Gee, for a wonderful orange postcard!

So, if you want to make Orange Meringue Pie, take:
  • 1 1/2 cup orange juice;
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar;
  • 6 Tbsp. cornstarch;
  • Dash salt;
  • 4 eggs, separated;
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice;
  • 3 Tbsp. grated orange rind;
  • 1/2 tsp. grated lemon rind;
  • 1 1/2 cup orange sections;
  • 1 9-inch pie shell, baked;
  • Meringue

Eating Well in Florida:
Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt in 11/2 qt. saucepan. Stir in orange and lemon juices gradually. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and bubbles. Stir in orange sections and boil for 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly. Mix 1/4 of hot orange with slightly beaten egg yolks then blend all back into orange mixture in saucepan. Continue to boil and stir for 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in orange and lemon rind. Pour into hot, baked pie shell. Spoon meringue on hot filling, sealing to edge of crust. Bake at 375 degrees until delicate brown - about 7-10 minutes. Cool away from draft.  Meringue: Beat 4 egg whites and 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar until foamy. Beat in 1/2 cup sugar 1 Tbsp. at a time. Beat until stiff and glossy. Beat in 1/2 tsp. vanilla.

I received these postcards from USA long ago, but haven't write about them.
First card is from Jennifer. I like it, because I like the roads.

The second card is from Angela. It shows lighting in Phoenix seen from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (photo by Susan Strom). And there are wonderful stamps on it!

The third card has came from Sandra. «Middlebury is everyone's ideal small town with its thriving Main Street historic district filled with family owned businesses and welcoming shopkeepers. It's also home to the world famous family-style dinners served at Das Dutchman Essenhaus», — is written on the card.

And the fourth card is from Susan. It shows the highest point in Eastern America, 6684', dominating the Black Mountain Range and a favourite stop along the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Mitchell is a major North Carolina State Park featuring nature trails, camping, and an excellent restaurant.

Rachel is an 18 years old female Harbor seal, weighing 180 pounds. Her favourite food is small bucket of iced herring. She can often been seen waving to people passing by the Sea Lion stadium.
I hope, she feels fine there. But anywhere dream about the day, when all animals will be free.
